Hundreds of Pole Dancers will meet for the first ever national Pole Dancers Camp

Gold Coast – Pole dancers from all over Australia meet at the Surfers Paradise from November 12 for the first ever national Pole Dancers Camp.

According to its organizer Bed Cort, the participants will be busy with workshops, handstand clinics, lessons on gymnastics and pole dancing with the best pole dancers in the world. “Pole dance has fact become a popular form of exercise for women from all walks of life and is now a sport heading towards the Olympics.”

Bec Cort is a 31-year-old mom from Brisbane who became a national champion in 2010 despite the fact that she has no background in dancing or gymnastics. According to Cort, the challenge of doing something that is definitely difficult, creative and sensual gives her the motivation to pursue pole dancing and endure the muscle soreness, bruises and injuries.

For a sport that started as a stripper performance, pole dancing has come a long way. Pole dancing is not just an act performed by strippers in clubs anymore. Many women are becoming hooked into pole dancing. Bec Cort, who’s now teaching pole dancing has taught lawyers, sales executives, real estate agents, mothers and teachers. She’s had students who were as young as 18 and as old as 57 taking up the sport. Women of all shapes, background and ages are learning to work the pole. More people are getting into the trend that some pole dancing enthusiasts have even recommended the inclusion of this workout in the 2012 Olympics.

Hundreds of participants are expected to grace the first ever Pole-ies Week in Australia but Cort says that the demand for the event is so strong that the numbers could have been doubled. “We didn’t think it’d be so popular, it’s been crazy, so next year we’ll make it larger and more of a festival,” says Bec Cort.

Pole dancers will participate in a handstand and beach acrobatic clinic on November 13 at Surfers Paradise. The camp will culminate in a “Pole Dreams” event on the same night.
