Pole dancing lesson tops charity auction
Glasgow – Charity bidding started to heat up as pole dancing lessons for the ladies were auctioned.
The charity event at Shanghai Shuffle Restaurant in Glasgow was done to raise funds for Revive MS Support, an institution dedicated to helping people with Multiple Sclerosis. Actress and model Kathleen McDermott, Revive’s ambassador hosted the event together with Kim Hamilton and Jim Smith.
The Revive shirt which was signed by members of Celtic’s 1967 European Cup-winning squad was supposed to be the top prize but everybody was surprised when the pole dancing lessons for a group of 15 women won the most bid.
Male bidders went aggressive and started the ball rolling as they were hoping to give a unique and special gift to their wives. The pole dancing lessons sold for £150 while the Lisbon Lions signed shirt got £80. McDermott was also surprised with how the men heat up as pole dancing lessons was auctioned. “I was the auctioneer and it was a good laugh when the bidding started for the pole dancing lessons. I was trying to get the guys to bid, as a treat for their partners and themselves too. We raised a good amount of money and these events are vital to Revive as it relies solely on public donations.”
The organization’s fundraising manager Dave Smelli was also surprised with the outcome of the event. “I certainly did not expect the pole dancing lessons to sell for more than the signed top. In the end, they sold to a lady, despite many of the guys bidding to get the lessons for their partners.”
The pole dancing lessons for a group of 15 ladies were donated by pole dance instructor Kim Hamilton. Kim teaches pole dancing at Independent Pole Fitness.. Pole dancing which started as a sensual adult dance in strip clubs has become a big hit in the UK, becoming an effective and sensational fitness routine for women.
Another fundraising activity will be organized by Revive at the Crowne Plaza on Sunday, 14 November 2010 where another batch of pole dancing lessons are expected to be auctioned.
