The History of exotic dancing
The history of exotic dancing is lost in the mists of time, and how far back it really goes we do not know. We do however know from ancient cave paintings that it is likely to have gone on around 20,000 years ago, and you can see definitive proof of this by watching the dancing in the Flintstones! I could be wrong with that last fact though.
These cave paintings are in the south of France, and show that the dancing was sexual, although whether it was for finding a mate or a way of impressing the Gods we are not sure.
We have plenty of evidence that exotic dancing was quite common in Egypt as many were performed to the Goddess of fertility, beauty and sexuality. They were used to help the soul of a priestess enter the spiritual realm, often reaching orgasm during the dance.
Progressing through the Roman and Greek era, again exotic dancers were used in the temples, the women selected were always beautiful and sexy and put their heart and soul into the dancing. Often the dancers would strip of their clothes, and if you view paintings and statues from that era you would easily notice that being nude was part of normal life, and not looked down upon as it still is in some countries today.
Although this kind of dancing probably happened earlier in public places, it is the Roman period were we find evidence of them taking place at banquets, parties and celebrations, and this trend has continued to this day. In fact if they didn’t have dancers at a Roman party then it wasn’t a real party.
Dancing clubs as we know them now appeared in the 20th century, and they faced a huge backlash, especially in countries were religion was strong. In the US for instance many were burnt down, they were kept out of site, and they were illegal and raided by the police often, but these days you can visit the likes of Las Vegas and have a huge selection to choose from.
It is not that long ago since we used to envisage a dancing club as some seedy bar down a backstreet, where only desperate men wearing raincoats attended, these days it is probably only politicians who dress that way when visiting these clubs so they can protect their innocent image!
Clubs these days are usually run under strict laws with plenty of protection for the girls and staff, and the seedy nature has well and truly gone. A lot of these places are very classy establishments, with hi-tech equipment and the customers come from all walks of life. For the girls involved it is also a full-time professional job and it takes a lot of work for just to get to the basic level with some of the top dancers earning a lot of money.
Whether you want to work in the industry, or maybe you are just looking to hold a stag party in one of the clubs, you know that these days the only thing you have to worry about in these places is who is buying the next drink.
