The Stripper,The Showgirl, music the exotic dancer industry
What is olde is new again. That maybe true for some things but in my little world some things will never change…
There is a thing in show biz that says give em what they want, So we do and in the exotic dance industry that mentality will maintain them through the dark ages.
Back in the 90’s I worked for a small strip club in Melbourne and I was always struggling against the bad taste of the music in the exotic dancer industry.
Like being trapped in an elevator there’s no escape and my blood runs cold like in the song. I heard it 30 times a day and I wished for an alternative. I got one dancer Jasmine who looked like death, a Goth. And thank you, she used Bella Lugosi’s dead.
I guess what I am trying to say is that sure take your clothes off, please the man paying you but don’t you ever want to try something new. There is a lot of music out there if you care to listen. Classical, jazz, techno and ambient. Music that you can get your teeth into as an ARTIST. Sure the clubs offer a lot of selection as far as girls go but more than often they are one bad choice of music after another.
I once ran a show for bon jovi and the girl doing it did not know. She performed to shot to the heart.
Well not only was I not sued but I got some wonderful advice from the writer of said song.
I was asked why did you choose that song. Was there nothing else? That made me think yes there was but the girl had no opinions of her own in regard to the best music to dance to. She believed that was what people wanted or at least what the radio played.
Jasmine piped up and said “ well she likes run of the mill. It’s not her fault, she never went to school.”
So I tried to change things. I began making my own video backdrops, slides and back-stories for the girls and they were a bit happier lot and I even got a tip.
But back then there were no other choices. Now we have the Internet with millions of tunes from everyone to choose from so why does that song have to be the choice?
Clubs offer the door fee, over priced drinks and the option of direct tipping and music association fees.
When I pay to see a show I want a show. I want Lights, costumes sexy movement and any girl who’s not that chick, you know the one that dances to that Korean gang song. Na she was the other chick or was she.
I want to remember the artist and the choice of music she used. Wow never hear pink Floyd done like that before. She didn’t grind she oiled her way across stage on that ooze, wish you were here. Or a live musician singing his own tunes would be good and to see that and it made me feel less guilty for being seen here.
Some dudes feel like that. I am a pc producer now and I like different, it’s what I do. I conjure images of the mind. I like short and long music and I want to see alternative striptease. Interpretive even. The end result is to be nakedish but why look like a cheap Hollywood version doing it. Ever thought about dancing to the theme of the terminator, tip toe through the tulips, Horse with no name or some spoken word poetry from diamonda Galas.
So what I want is for you gals to be better than a wet bar floor and give the guys something for their minds and for you to give yourselves some exotic in your exotic dancing.
If any one is interested in some new music and show material, please contact me
Sincerely
